The red line delimites the protected area.

This Landsat TM image shows the Ha Long Bay in natural colours with the three first spectral bands respectively in the green, blue and red channels. The spatial resolution is 30 m (when displayed in full resolution as is the case for the global view of the Ha Long Bay area above).

Due to meteorological conditions in the region of Ha Long, it is very difficult to obtain cloudless satellite images. The image above is a small part of a Landsat TM scene (180 by 180 km). On the left side, the cloud cover is complete while over Ha Long Bay the clouds are transparent. Such conditions can significantly perturb remote sensing applications.

Diachronic analysis can be applied using such Landsat TM images. The following documents show results of interpretation of Landsat TM images for the Ha Long city area :
