Use of Remote sensing and GIS

Corona Landsat SPOT GIS

SPOT

Corona 1965.
SPOT XS satellite image 11/05/2000.

On this SPOT Satellite image, only a part on the protected area of Ha Long Bay is visible on the left (Western part of the protected area). A green line delimits this area. The HRV sensor aboard SPOT has a spatial resolution of 20 m in three spectral bands. The image above shows a large area and is not displayed in full resolution.

In the category "problems and risks", some examples of use of SPOT imagery are given. These examples show some possibilities of the use of satellite images (deliver objective information on resources or built-up areas, visualise problems and risks, act as a communication tool between different stakeholders in developing region, simulate the impact of the proposed Master development plan of Ha Long City) and their utility to elaborate up-to-date GIS systems.
