The limits of the medina corresponding to the ramparts are very easily located. The various gates in the ramparts are called "Bab". The complexity of the street network inside the medina is clearly visible on this map.

There is no buffer zone delimited around the protected area of the Medina. It was a normal procedure at UNESCO for old nominations (inscribed on the list in 1985).
